{"id":427,"date":"2014-08-23T16:58:12","date_gmt":"2014-08-23T21:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/skelmo.com\/?p=427"},"modified":"2014-08-23T17:00:46","modified_gmt":"2014-08-23T22:00:46","slug":"getting-ready-to-hit-the-jmt-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/skelmo.com\/?p=427","title":{"rendered":"Getting ready to hit the JMT again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next Friday, Tracy and I are heading out on the John Muir trail again.\u00a0 We will be doing 3 different segments that start in Yosemite and end at Mt Whitney.\u00a0 Between each of the segments, we will spend a couple nights in a hotel so we can eat real food, sleep in a bed, and take a shower.<\/p>\n<p>The first segment will be from Tuolumne meadows to Red\u2019s Meadow.\u00a0\u00a0 We will cover about 34 miles over those 3 days.\u00a0 We will pass through the Ansel Adams Wilderness and see many of the places he made famous from his pictures (<a href=\"http:\/\/skelmo.com\/?p=123\" target=\"_blank\">Last Year<\/a>).\u00a0 The second segment will be from North Lake to South Lake which will take us through Evolution Valley and over Muir Pass (<a href=\"http:\/\/skelmo.com\/?p=142\" target=\"_blank\">Last Year<\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0 Over 4 days, we will pass through some of the most scenic parts of the trail and cover 55 miles.\u00a0 The last segment will start at Onion Valley and pass over the top of Mt Whitney, which is the highest point in the continental US.\u00a0\u00a0 This will be the most challenging since we will be covering over 50 miles in 3 days and crossing the highest pass on the trail at over 13,200 feet.
